*𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐫'𝐬 𝐩𝐨𝐯*

A soft wind blew past the two flying figures while they talked with each other in boredom. The sun was at its highest hour making the two painfully aware that they were to have to set up camp soon.

"King... what do you think Ban would be doing right now?" (Y/N) asked the relaxed male with a bored tone. King looked over at her and back to his flower crown. "Probably went to do something." King answered back and nuzzled his face closer to her soft white wings.

(Y/N) sighed, "I hope he and Meliodas make up." King looked up to her and smiled. "Me too, those guys were the greatest best friends you would ever see." King laughed, settling the flower crown on top of her head. 

After that conversation both of them stayed quiet, no words being needed to be spoken. King glanced over at the sky and back down at (Y/N) as he watched her scan the ground below for the familiar giant. 

"Hey, (Y/N)?" King whispered to her. (Y/N) hummed in response and continued to look down towards the ground with sharp eyes. King sighed, "Do you think we should go back?" At this suggestion (Y/N) speed faltered but got back quickly. "Why do you say that King? Didn't you want to go and find Diane in the first place?" (Y/N) glanced at him in question.

King nervously smiled at her. "Yes, yes I truly did, but I think Diane should have some time alone to recover." King forced out. (Y/N) expression turned confused. "What do you mean, recover?" (Y/N) questioned him. 

"W-Well... Diane told me that... she wanted to have some alone time to rethink her life choices before she left! Yes, Diane told me that!" King responded, though, by the way he said this I think it was pretty clear on what he was trying to do, though (Y/N), you fell for it.

"Is that so..." (Y/N) whispered. Soon, their position on the air changed as (Y/N) turned back around. "Then I suppose we'll be going back with the others. Seriously, this whole thing was pointless. You even made me talk with Gerheade after so many years." (Y/N) complained. 

King smirked, she fell for it, (Y/N) truly did fall for his lie. He didn't know why he suddenly decided to go back and say that, but he did, and to him, that's all the proof he needs. Diane doesn't matter to him anymore, to him she's just a person in his way towards his true love, (Y/N).

Feeling small arms wrap around her waist (Y/N) glanced over her shoulder only to see King with a happy expression. Smiling, (Y/N) looked back forward and stopped looking down below every few seconds. Things were easier now.

*𝟸𝟹 𝚑𝚘𝚞𝚛𝚜 𝚕𝚊𝚝𝚎𝚛*

The crackling fire was heard inside the sleeping forest as small sparks went onto the grass, but didn't light on fire. (Y/N) chopped down on the corn King was able to option and gave a satisfied smile in his direction. 

"Thanks again, King! Been a while since I last ate corn." (Y/N) thanked him and quickly got back on the delicacy that is corn. King blushed and averted his stare away from her. "T-Thanks, I heard you talking about it yesterday so I... just thought you might... want some." King faltered in his words. 

(Y/N) nodded her head quickly, "I do like them a lot! Oh man, I wish every day was just as calm as today." (Y/N) sighed dreamily at the thought of every day eating corn and not having to worry about going to battle the next day.

King smiled down at his corn with dreamy eyes. "I wish so, too." King whispered. "What was that?" (Y/N) asked him with her mouth stuffed with corn before swallowing. "N-Nothing! I-Its nothing..." King whispered the last part. Shrugging, (Y/N) went back to eating corn and admiring the stars. 

"You know, (Y/N), what if every day could truly be just like today." King said to her. Turning her head towards King she cocked her head to the side in question. "Explain, please." (Y/N) asked him, in which he complied. "What if, every day we could wake up and not care about any battle happening and we can just relax. If I remember correctly, wasn't that your wish?" King stated, now looking up at (Y/N). 

(Y/N) put down the corn away from her mouth and stared at the ground in thought. "Well... that would be nice and all, but not all dreams can come true, King." (Y/N) replied. King sighed, "This dream can, though. You've done so many things for every race, you deserve your dream to come true." King exclaimed with fire in his eyes. 

(Y/N) smiled down at him, but her eyes were saddened with longing. "I know I have, but just look at our backstory King and see how impossible it is to avoid battle." (Y/N) smiled sadly at him, "Now, eat your corn." 

King huffed, "Your wrong, we could do that right now. We could run away from all of this and live somewhere where no one could find us, not even Merlin." King stated. This shocked (Y/N), she already knew what King was trying to get at but for him to say it out loud still made her feel shocked, even hopeful, but hope never lasts for long. 

"Listen, King, as much as I would have loved the offer I don't. We have friends waiting for us, a war to beat, and a legacy to make, and deciding to just abandon it all would be like a warrior running away from the battlefield." (Y/N) proclaimed and set down her corn on a piece of cloth.

"That's where you're wrong, (Y/N). We've already said goodbye to our friends, we've already beat the war hundreds of years ago, and we already made a legacy. We are not running away from the battlefield, we are just declaring our victory." King commented, his voice now sounding serious. 

(Y/N) gulped, "Our friends expect us to get back, we have entered a new war, and our legacy has not ended. King, we have too much waiting for us to just let it all go." King frowned, "Though, what about us? We've suffered long enough, is it so wrong as to want peace in our lives?" King questioned her, though (Y/N) didn't respond.

"We can both relax once everything is settled, for now, let's just continue on fighting. Okay, King?" (Y/N) questioned him, but King didn't wish to hear it any longer. 

"(Y/N), this would be your only chance to ever get your freedom, and I don't think it's a very wise choice to let it slip by your fingers. Once you're fully in this war, there's no going back. Though both of us still have hope of escaping it, so please (Y/N), allow yourself to be free." King looked up at her with determination in his eyes, but (Y/N) was too busy thinking to notice. 

Both of them were silent for five full minutes with the sounds of the crickets the only thing filling the silence. Lifting her head from looking at the ground (Y/N) stared at King with nothing but vulnerability. 

"I wish to be free, King." (Y/N) whispered, though that was all that he needed. King got up from his seat on the ground and ran full speed towards her and enveloped her in a warm hug. "I knew you would choose the right choice in the end, (Y/N)!" King exclaimed making her chuckle.

As the two were hugging King looked down at her back and saw an almost microscopic piece of metal. A tracking device. Since (Y/N) was immune to a lot of magical spells King supposed that this would have been the only way for Merlin to keep her watchful eye on (Y/N). Grasping the device in his hand King crushed it with all his might making it break into tiny little pieces as he let it all fall to the ground. 

"King, you gonna let go or what?" (Y/N) laughed at the flustered male as King pulled back. Calming down King now looked at the relaxed female with care in his eyes. "Now, it's time we go to Katsuaki."
